Forensic Engineering & Fire Investigation

Structural Engineer – Chicago

Experience the difference with a fast-paced, growing team of experts at Nederveld Inc, a multi-disciplined consulting engineering and surveying firm.  We are looking to hire an experienced structural engineer who is ready to digress from typical design type work and assist us with failure analysis assignments for our Chicago, Illinois office. 

This is primarily an “out of the office” position.  You will travel to various sites to determine the cause of failures mainly related to building systems. Driving to assignment(s) throughout the day is part of this job and overnight stays are sometimes required.  One or two days in the office per week can be expected.  If you enjoy the hands-on approach to engineering and being in the field, this position is for you.

REQUIREMENTS:
• Licensed Illinois Structural Engineer
• 10 or more years of engineering design experience
• Ability to apply theories and knowledge to real world situations
• Self-starter and desire to continually seek additional knowledge
• Strong writing and communication skills
• Climb ladders, walk on roofs, enter attics and crawlspaces
• Kneeling, squatting, and lift/carry up to 50 pounds
• Drive to assignments throughout the day
• Ability to pass a background check

Part-time Certified Fire Investigator - Indiana

Experience the difference with a fast-paced growing team of experts at Nederveld.  We are looking to hire a Certified Fire Investigator (IAAI-CFI) for the Indiana office located in Indianapolis.  This part-time position is primarily an “out of the office” position.  You will travel to various sites to determine the origin and cause of fires related to buildings, vehicles and equipment.

REQUIREMENTS:
•  Certified Fire Investigator – International Association of Fire Investigators
•  5 or more years of origin and cause investigation experience
•  Self-starter and desire to continually seek additional knowledge
•  Strong writing and communication skills

Land Use Consultation & Development Services

Environmental Engineer - Holland

Nederveld Inc., a multi-disciplined consulting engineering and surveying firm, is seeking to fill the position of Environmental Engineer in its Holland, Michigan office. A qualified candidate will be a self-starter with a high attention to detail and great organizational skills.  The ability to professionally interact with clients and staff is a benefit. 

REQUIREMENTS:
•  Knowledge of ASTM Standards for Phase I ESAs and other environmental assessments
•  Environmental field investigation experience
•  Experience with soil and ground water sampling, Geo-Probe, hollow-stem auger, bucket type hand augers
•  Authoring environmental assessment report experience
•  Familiar with MDEQ Part 201 and Part 211 rules
•  Auto-Cad, Auto-Cad Lite or other engineering design software experience
•  40 Hour Hazwopper trained and certified
•  3-5 years of experience in related field is preferred

Project Coordinator / Administrative Assistant - Ann Arbor

Nederveld Inc., a multi-disciplined consulting engineering and surveying firm, is seeking to fill the position of Project Coordinator/Administrative Assistant in its Ann Arbor, Michigan office.

A qualified candidate must have great communication skills and the ability to make others feel welcome.  This candidate should be a self-starter with a high attention to detail and great organizational skills, able to work independently with limited supervision and instruction after initial training period.  Ability to professionally interact with clients and staff is a must.  Ability to handle multiple tasks with interruption is necessary. Previous experience in the Surveying/Engineering/Construction field would be very beneficial. Knowledge of and experience in the following areas is highly desired:  Microsoft office products, professional writing, coordination of multiple tasks, and general office tasks.

This is a full time position.
