New Urbanism

Nederveld utilizes the principles of The Charter of the New Urbanism in our town planning endeavors. New Urbanism is the revival of the lost art of placemaking, and is essentially a re-ordering of the built environment into the form of complete cities, towns, villages and neighborhoods.

What is New Urbanism?

Housing, workplaces, shops, entertainment, schools, parks and civic facilities are all located within easy walking distance of each other. It is not simply about creating urban places, but rather the design of the entire human habitat from the urban to the rural.

Using these techniques, we are able to preserve rural landscapes by promoting the creation of compact new towns and villages and by the restoration of existing cities, while showing how social responsibility and environmental sensitivity are good business.
