City of Wayne Charrette

Wayne, Michigan

A weeklong charrette that was conducted by a team of professors and graduate students from Andrews University to provide a future vision for the City of Wayne.  The charrette used urban design and town planning tools to retrofit suburban areas of the city and to accentuate the existing urban fabric.

  • Provided professional assistance and support to the Andrews University team during public input, feedback loops and design.

  • Incorporated design of mixed-use blocks, compact urban fabric and complete streets into a one square mile study area of the city.

  • Assisted students in developing tools to address stakeholder concerns and respond to existing conditions within the city.

  • Created clearly defined civic space, traffic calming measures and mixed-use infill as part of the illustrative recommendations.
