Summary
The community of Celadon New Town is a town in the truest sense of the word. Meeting the definition of a Traditional Neighborhood Design (TND), it offers a diverse mix of uses and housing types, as well as a network of streets that is designed to serve both pedestrian and automobile.
Given the history and experience of the developer in the Forest Hills area, all aspects of the town are of the highest quality. The design provides an appropriate transition from the dense retail area near the East Beltline to residential living at the northern end of the site. Celadon New Town incorporates existing nature (wetlands) into the community with an emphasis on using sustainable or “green” development methods. Ultimately, this project provides a highly attractive place to foster local arts, culture, and character while supporting a true community lifestyle.
Located on Knapp Street and Leffingwell, the residential portion of the town is comprised of 22 loft condominiums, 52 attached condominiums, 24 live-work condominiums, 5 work-live condominiums and 19 single family homes. The town offers residents 10,800 square feet of neighborhood services, 13,470 square feet of work-work opportunity and 13,200 square feet of live-work convenience. Engineers also worked closely with the City of Grand Rapids to engineer sanitary sewer and watermain for Celadon New Town.
The mission of the developers is to create a dynamic community based on TND principles that encourage walkability and cultural experiences making a positive impression upon our landscape.
