Sevens Building Rehabilitation

Grand Rapids, MI

Architecture / Preservation

This project consisted of the restoration and rehabilitation of two modest commercial buildings, vacant since the 1980's, located on Wealthy Street in the current Cherry Hill Historic District of Grand Rapids, Michigan. The buildings were originally constructed in the late 1880's.

The scope of the project encompassed a complete rehabilitation of the exterior of the buildings including repairing damaged storefronts, removing inappropriate additions and the re-pointing of masonry. The interiors of each building were divided into four retail spaces on the ground floors each with a corresponding residential apartment above.

The project qualified for Historic Tax Credits and is located in a Renaissance Zone. Nederveld provided architectural, preservation, surveying and engineering services for this project.
