Corcoran named 2008 Investigator of the Year

^{HUDSONVILLE, MI – May 9, 2008 – Nederveld fire investigator and Chicago Fire Department Supervisory Fire Marshal Timothy M. Corcoran received the Investigator of the Year Award from the International Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI) at the 59th Annual Training Conference and Banquet in Denver on April 29 for displaying a high degree of professionalism, leadership, dedication and diligence in the investigation of a house fire/arson/homicide case, successfully bringing justice to three small children that died.}

^{With over 6,000 world-wide members, this highly regarded award is given each year to an individual who has shown outstanding achievement through the use of professional expertise in both criminal and civil fields of arson control. Corcoran proved to be that individual through his extensive investigation, assisted by Chicago Police Department Detectives, and collection of evidence, which determined the origin and cause of the fatal fire that was challenged in court, along with his expertise in fire scene investigations. His diligence resulted in a successful investigation and testimony, which was a significant factor in the jury’s guilty verdict.}

Dorgan, Commanding Fire Marshal, Chicago Fire Department, Office of Fire Investigation, is a full-time captain with the Chicago Fire Department’s Fire Investigative Unit as well as a part-time fire investigator with the Nederveld. He has 25 plus years experience as a major case investigator, staff trainer and firefighter. Corcoran’s credentials include IAAI Certified Fire Investigator (CFI), Illinois State Fire Marshal Certified Fire Investigator, and National Association of Fire Investigators Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator (CFEI).}
